Oscar Acosta, CEO and co-founder
They say every athlete has two deaths. The first one occurs when they can no longer play the sport they love due to age or injury. In Oscar’s case, injury caused by overtraining led to a damaged ACL and a torn meniscus. His coach pushed him too hard without the technology that could have kept him competing. Yet, the darkest day in his professional sports career led to a moment of clarity. In that moment, Atalanta was born.
Oscar Acosta is an industrial designer by trade and a former pro athlete. Since 2010, he has been designing products for the human body, particularly medical devices and surgical instruments.
He has taught industrial design and worked as a consultant for ergonomic product development. Earlier in his career, he worked as a QC and production manager for GE Aviation, and also spent a year in marketing as an account director for McCann Erickson.
In 2015, Oscar began a new journey as an entrepreneur when he became CEO and co-founder of Body M3canix.
Oscar has a BSc in Industrial and Product Design, an MS in Material Science, and a management diploma. He holds two patents.
