Will it work under water?
Yes. Atalanta’s unibody construction means there’s nothing to leak, and it’s 100% waterproof. You can use Atalanta to get real data on your swims the same way you track every other workout.
Will it measure HRV?
Yes. Heart rate variability, or HRV, is the fluctuation in the time between your heartbeats. The greater the variation, the better your body can adapt to changes in activity level. When looked at over time, this metric can help you plan training session intensity and recovery periods.
Is it comfortable?
Yes. All the parts are specially designed to fit the natural curves of your chest. The device is entirely encapsulated in a soft, flexible silicon that channels away sweat and water as you move. The device is shaped to fit underneath the breasts of women (and the pectoral muscles of everyone).
Your body isn’t straight, so none of the buckles or other parts are either. Atalanta embraces the body, using less tension but a bit more compression so you’re comfortable, even if you’re moving your upper body a lot, for example, when swimming.
There are no moving parts to come loose, pinch or break.
Is it lightweight?
Yes. At only 79 grams, Atalanta is lighter than a regular size chocolate bar.
How does Atalanta measure true breathing?
Breathing’s biomechanical movements are captured through the motion of the device’s patented compliant mechanism breathing sensor.
How does Atalanta measure SPO2?
Most fitness trackers measure the oxygen saturation of your blood with a technology called PPG, which has some key limitations. Firstly, PPG can only penetrate 4–5 millimeters under the skin under ideal conditions. Also, the melanin pigment found in our skin interferes with PPG technology. If you have darker skin, PPG doesn’t work very well at all.
Atalanta uses functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), which safely penetrates up to 57 millimeters into the body. That’s a big difference.
Does it measure true calories burnt?
Yes. Atalanta not only measures calories more accurately, it gives you an early warning about taking in the calories you need to stay at your peak.
Other devices don’t give you that snapshot of true calories. It’s a long-standing joke in performance athletics that every fitness tracker will give you a different number. That’s because they use a formula that filters less data through more assumptions to provide an estimate.
Atalanta measures your true heart rate, body temperature and oxygen separation of your blood. And instead of doing an estimate, we pass the data through an advanced sports medicine formula to give you a much more accurate number for the amount of calories you’ve burnt.
This is essential to help you plan nutritional intake, especially during competition. It’s vital to refuel before you start to feel low on energy, because it takes time to recover.
How long does the charge last?
About 36 hours of continuous use. Atalanta uses a lithium polymer (LiPo) battery, and to recharge it, just rest it in the dock.
What if I buy Atalanta but am unhappy with it?
You can return Atalanta for a refund within 30 days of your purchase. We also have a 1-year warranty on parts and manufacturing.
